Do you have a soul mate? Somebody who just “gets” you, who stays with you through thick and thin? People say you go together like Bert and Ernie, Fred and Ginger, salt and pepper or…peanut butter and jelly! Today is National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day and what better way to celebrate (besides fixing your soul mate the classic sandwich) than to buy a peanut butter and jelly-inspired gift that lets him or her know, “we go together.”
I am so often in a hurry at a grocery store that reflecting on how all of the food made it to the shelves is usually an afterthought. But, if you are like me, consider how dramatically different our lives would be if we no longer had ready access to affordable, safe, and nutritious food […]

Ever wonder how your favorite magazines and media outlets find out about the latest healthy and delicious snacks? For most people, it’s even more important than nutrition.
With so many options to choose from, it was difficult to pick my favorite peanut recipe to make for National Peanut Month. I said to myself: “Self, make a savory dish, because there are so many savory peanut dishes that you love. Don’t make a dessert, don’t make a dessert, don’t make a dessert.” Well, I made a dessert. Last year I shared a little about the growing snack food trend and offered up some tasty recipe ideas to eat between meals. In 2014, the trends continue to evolve from the indulgent to more nutrient-rich options.
Today is for the dogs… or at least for their treats. Yes, much to a doggy’s delight, the numerous varieties of dog biscuits that line the shelves of pet food isles have their very own day of recognition. My puppy appreciates dog biscuits regardless of what day it is, and without deference to my futile attempts at teaching obedience. So, in order to make her International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day a little more special, I am highlighting those dog biscuits and treats that are made with peanut butter.
