In a heavy-metal skillet, add the American peanuts and toss them over a medium heat until lightly toasted. Remove from heat and place the American peanuts in a bowl. While still warm, sprinkle over the red chili powder and stir well.
Pour the oil into the pan and once it has heated up again, add the popping corn and cover. Maintain on a medium heat. The corn should start to pop and hit the lid. Remove from heat once the popping stops and pour the popped corn into the bowl with the American peanuts. Stir well, add more chili powder if desired and lemon juice to taste just before serving.
