Halloween is just around the corner which means it’s time for you to start thinking about how you’re going to celebrate! Here are three fun and easy activities PB lovers can do this Halloween:
Break Out the Candy
Buy peanut or peanut butter-filled candy for trick-or-treaters this year. This Country Living article ranks the top 25 Halloween candies. Reese’s tops the list at No. 1 and three of the top five Halloween candies contain peanuts or peanut butter. Peanuts have more protein than any other nut, so candies containing peanuts can give you that extra energy you need to trick or treat all night long!
DIY Costume
Doesn’t every kid want to be their favorite sandwich for Halloween? You can make this DIY easy peanut butter and jelly costume for kids. It’s the perfect project for you and your kids to work on together. Follow these simple steps to make this deliciously nutty costume:
What you’ll need: Cardboard, scissors, paint with brush, tape and string/ribbon
Step 1: Cut out two pieces of cardboard in the shape of bread.
Step 2: Add peanut butter (brown paint) to one slice of bread and jelly (purple paint) to the other piece of bread.
Step 3: Tape the string/ribbon to the back of the bread so you can tie the costume to the child around their belly.

If you want to pass on the sandwich, but still want a peanut inspired costume, we’ve got you covered. There are plenty of peanut costumes you can buy online, but if you’re up for the challenge we found out how to make a DIY peanut costume.
What you’ll need: yellow foam, cardboard, brown spray paint, 18-inch strip of self-adhesive Velcro, 10 clothespins, brown shirt and pants/tights, scissors and craft glue or hot glue.
Step 1: Cut a rectangle of yellow foam long enough to fit from the top of your head to your knees plus one inch so you can hot glue the edges together. Make sure the rectangle is wide enough to fit around your body as well. Then cut a hole in the sides of the foam for your arms to go through and top of the foam for your face, making sure it’s large enough for your chin and forehead to fit through.
Step 2: Glue the long sides of the costume together, using the clothespins to hold the edges together while it dries. Make sure to leave a gap unglued between the neck and back of the costume so you are able to put it on later. Allow the glue to dry.
Step 3: Cut a small rectangle from the cardboard, and place the cardboard on the foam and spray around it’s edges to create the peanut pattern. Keep the cardboard held in the same direction each time to make a uniform pattern. Cover the entire costume, working from the top down, and allow the paint to dry.
Step 4: Glue the top edges of the costume and hold the glue in place with the clothespins. This will give the costume it’s shape.
Step 5: Add Velcro to both sides of the back of the costume to keep the opening clothes while you are wearing the costume. Wear a brown shirt and pants or tights underneath to complete the look.
